The Man Called Nova

Nova is probably my favorite hero, or always pretty darn close. I first saw him in Fantastic Four #208, where the FF and the Champions of Xandar battled the Sphinx.

After that I caught some of his own comic, then read a lot of New Warriors, where I wasn't quite happy with the way he was written. When Annihilation came out, that seemed more like the Nova I used to know, and I haven't missed a bit since then.

This was one of my early Daz Studio pieces. Previously I had been working solely with store-bought assets from the Daz store, but this time I had to model the various armor pieces in Blender and then bring them back into Daz. I even made the asteroids in Blender with a particle system, then brought that into Daz. There was quite a bit of Photoshop post-work in this one, and I recreated the logo in Illustrator to top off the piece.

The last remaining Nova, and last bastion of the culture of Xandar, Richard Rider has the weight of the universe on his human shoulders.

It gets lonely out there. Other beings can't understand the awesome responsibility he alone must contend with.
